The world knows it, the US confirms its presence but India continues to deny having an inter-continental ballistic missile called the Surya. The Indian media reports based on the US intelligence sources say that India has used its PSLV (polar satellite launch vehicle, which carries space shuttle) to develop the Surya ICBM.
Since the Indian authorities deny its existence very little is known about the capabilities and specifications of the Surya. It is believed that the Surya can off-load its nuclear warhead on enemy targets 12,000 km away. This means that if launched from New Delhi, it can strike targets in the United States without a hitch!
The unconfirmed reports further say that Indian scientists have developed warheads and key-components that can convert the PSLV into the Surya ICBM at very short notice. If all goes well, it is believed that by 2010, the Surya will be the most precious gem of the Indian Army's missile arsenal.
